Tibetan Buddhist dances, Chants and rituals

Nestled between the mountains around the town Tingmosgang, the second home of the former kings of Ladakh, is the Tserkarmo monastery. It is one of the four major branch monasteries of Lamayuru and serves more than 300 years to the study and practice the teachings of Buddha.

touring the first time in the long history of Tserkarmo eight monks and two lay actors from 'Little Tibet', in northern India for three months eleven European countries, including 19 cities in Germany. With this tour, they want to give the people of Europe not only an insight into the rich and fascinating culture of Ladakh, but also give inter-faith dialogue marked by mutual appreciation, space.

lead In their performances the monks both prayers and meditations as well as by various mask dances. Already in Tibet has developed a long tradition of ritual dances that are far more than mere entertainment. The dancers follow her movements with the requirements of ancient texts and the accompanying music, recite mantras and focus their mind free of distraction on the appearance of the deity. So overcome by these religious dances not only all the obstacles on the Buddhist path, but it is also produced a great healing potential, the positive impact on the earth and world peace.

monastic tradition and rural life in Ladakh are inextricably linked. This is evident by the performances of the two lay people who act as the great epic of King Gesar of Ling, which is in many parts of Tibet and Ladakh as well as in the Gesar saga widespread.

Another aim of this tour is to assist with the proceeds in the coming years, several social projects and the preservation of the environment in Ladakh and to continue.
